October 19th Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, UK

Went to see the great man last night, great show, all the usual tracks and stuff off the new album. Gary was in great form some blinding solos, played just under two hours. If you're going to see some other dates you won't be disappointed. H.

October 20th Town and Country Club, Leeds, UK

I am not given to superlatives, but last night's show was without doubt one of the best I have ever attended. The set list was:
   Walking by Myself
   Pretty Woman
   Lost in Your Love
   Need Your Love So Bad
   I Loved Another Woman
   Since I Met You Baby
   Surrender
   Go On Home
   Still Got The Blues
   Fire
   Too Tired
   The Sky is Crying
   Further On Up The Road
   Parisienne Walkways
(I think I missed a couple, but I allowed myself to get lost in the music.)
Gary Moore is truly a master of improvisation. I have heard all the tracks above many times, but his playing of them was, in many cases, like nothing I had ever heard before. They could almost have been totally new music. AND - the improvisation took nothing away from the originals - in fact, it invigorated the music.
He played several tracks from the new album and outstanding amongst these was Surrender - it really had the power to send shivers down your spine.
All in all a marvellous evening - I wouldn't have missed it for anything - and I will go back to my CD's happy in the knowledge that, contrary to most artists and groups, the original is every bit as good as the records, in most cases even better. Joan

saw gary at leeds town and country club last night (wed 20) very much a watered down blues alive show. gary was on top form and played well the playlist was:
   walking by myself
   pretty woman
   lost in your love
   need your love so bad
   i loved another woman
   since i met you baby
   surrender
   tore down
   all your love
   still got the blues
   fire
   too tired
   the sky is crying
   further on up the road
encore 1 the blues is alright
   encore 2 parisienne walkways
gary was on stage for exactly 2 hours and gave as good a performance as could be expected. the band consisted of just gary with a bass player, keyboards and drums. talking afterwards quite a few disappointed at the blues type concert and were hoping for a return to a heavier / rockier sound. but still a good night and hoping to get to another venue later. chris

October 23rd Shepherds Bush Empire, London, UK

Gary did a superb concert at Shepherds Bush last night, playing for two hours. He showed his irreproachable rhythmic sense, his tone and volume control and his creative versatility. He is playing better than ever. His solos were a little bit more rocker than in Montreux, although still tuneful, and he was more relaxed as a singer -- it means that he sang out of tune sometimes. He played three new songs: "Fire" (far better live than on CD -- where it doesn't sounds special), "Lost In Your Love" (when Gary started a little bit hesitant, but with a great and longer solo at the end) and "Surrender" (a unsalted song, but that give him a good moment for him to show off). Anyway, this tune was a little bit out of context.
Despite of the new CD, I must say that he still sounds rock ("rockin' n' rollin'", to use a old song title). And his new experiments don't "contamine" the old material. I wasn't in front of the stage, but it seems that he didn't use the famous "Peter Green's guitar" and he played with the new Les Paul model that Gibson made for him, a ES 335 model, and another Gibson. The band was Pete Rees (bass), Vic Martin (Keyboards) and Darrin Mooney (Gary Husband had played at Montreux).
   The Set list was:

2. Pretty Woman
3. Lost in Your Love
4. Need Your Love so Bad
5. I Loved Another Woman
6. Since I Met You Baby
7. Surrender
8. I'm Tore Down
9. All Your Love
10.Still Got The Blues
11.Fire
12.Too Tired
13.The Sky is Crying
14.Further on up The Road

November 2nd 013, Tilburg, Holland

I've been to the GM show last night in Tilburg, there were about 2200 people (almost sold out). Gary did perform great with his band and almost all his songs had great and long guitar solo's. He also did like to play and that's a bit different with the last show I saw, which was a short show 70 min. This show was over 2 hours.    I also think that he sould make a choice about his music, because if you only play 3 songs of the new album (Lost in your love, Surrender and Fire) and the other are all oldies... So if it's gonna be blues he must make new songs... Will it be ADB music he have to play it live so the fans knows what he's doing...    Anyway it was a great (fantastic) show, with a great GM... If you have the change to go you must go...    Set List:
Walking by Myself
Pretty Woman
Lost in your love
Need your Love So Bad
I Loved another Woman
Since I met you Baby
Surrender
Tore Down
All Youre Love
Still got The Blues
Fire
Too Tired
The Sky Is Crying
Further on up the Road
   Encores:
The Blues is Alright
Parisienne Walkways
My opinion about his guitar solo's is that I find them still more rock then Blues, especially the solo's with distortion in them, the clean ones sounds more like blues. But Gary Moore is still the best guitar player in the world !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Michel

Went to see Gary last night in Tilburg, after reading the optimistic reviews of the UK shows on the web. Same setlist - 2 hours playing time. Some great moments - openers "Walkin' by myself" and "Pretty woman" went down well, "SGTB" and "Walkways" are still masterpieces, the guitar/keyboard duel on "Further on up the road" was excellent, and uptempo "Since I met you baby", "Too tired" and "The blues is alright" had a good bluesrock drive. Unfortunately, the show also contained some weak spots - "I loved another woman" and "Tore down" dragged on and on, and "Surrender" must be the lamest song he ever played. To be honest: I got bored stiff with the new songs and some of the "introvert" blues songs.
Throughout Gary's rock days and the first two blues albums, he has been one of my biggest guitar heroes. Shows on the "STGB" and "After Hours" tours really blew me away. However, with his work of the past few years/albums he has lost quite a few places on my list of favourite guitarists, as he can not keep up with the competition. Simply put: the man can do a lot better - I hope he has the guts to get back to playing heavy rock songs and show his true AAA+ class. I encourage everyone to go see Sykes'/Gorham's Thin Lizzy tribute show late November / early December (Holland, Germany, Scandinavia) and compare the two shows - they are both great nights out, don't get me wrong, but I bet an evening of Lizzy songs will be far more exciting. Philip

Sold out concert in Holland, where a part of the crowd expected Gary to return to Rock. Although most of the songs were blues or blues related he played a excellent set with a band in good spirit. His singing was sometimes out of tune but his guitars were punished. Songs from the new album sounded very well with a memorable solo in "surrender" (blind on his knees). Excellent sound, band and concert, looking forward to the next one. Carlo

There are a few things I would like to add to the comments of the others. Having seen Gary perform life for the last time in 1992, I was again very impressed by his guitar playing. Oke, he not exactly playing the thru kind of music I like him to play (p.e. Colosseum II), but he really performed magnificent on his guitar. Long and good solos in almost every song, a bit uncertain with the new songs and absolutely brilliant in the second part of 'Parisienne walkways'. I have never heard him play such a frantic solo. I was 'shocked to shit' after that one. Marcel
